Kouji Matsushita writes:
Mr Tanaka has a lot of problems for his health. First, he has bad
eating habits. He doesn't eat breakfast most mornings, and he intakes
fast food or upon at lunch and dinner. He relies on vitamin
supplements. They are not food. Vitamins cannot be assimilated without
ingesting food. Vitamins help regulate metabolism, convert fat and
carbohydrates into energy, and assist in forming bone and tissue.
Minerals are also needed for growth and maintenance of body
structures. For example, iron (recommended daily amounts -- RDA: 10
milligrams) is important for healthy red blood cells. Minerals also help
to maintain digestive juices and the fluids found in and around cells.
Food provides the body with the materials it needs for energy, growth,
repair, and reproduction. What we need is nutrients from food. He had
better improve his poor nutrients. The best way to get vitamins and
minerals he need is by eating a varied, balanced diet, rich in fruits,
vegetables, and grains. He need more than 40 different nutrients for
good health, and no single food supplies them all. But he really hates
most vegetables. Even if he get good nutrition from the vitamin
supplements, he should eat lots of vegetables.
Second, he eats a lot of meat, beef and pork mostly. He overeats those
fatty foods. Carbohydrates include all starches and sugars, which are
the body's main source of energy. Each gram of carbohydrate provides 4
calories. Starches contain more nutrients than fats. On the other
hand, fats pack a lot of energy. Each gram of fat provides 9 calories.
Carbohydrates and fats contain foods which our bodies use for energy
and growth. Both of these are important for him. But he should take
care the amount of them. He should change his lifestyle. He need to
consider his meal again. Eating habits are most important for health.
He should eat every meal. The balance of nutrition is important. And
he should eat proper amount of meal.
Third, both his grandfather and father have diabetes. His mother is
currently ill with a critical heart condition. Mr Tanaka's LDL level
is measured at 172. Those medical records show a serious genetic condition.
It's dangerous because those risk factors overlap. He can't change his
family history. But he can improve his LDL level. Fatty foods increase
his LDL level. He should reduce fatty foods which makes cholesterol's
way to the arteries. And some vitamins may help protect against heart
disease. Fiber help reduce his LDL levels in the blood. Fiber is
provided all fruits, vegetables, and grains. He should get a good
daily dose (25 to 30 grams) of fiber from a varied. If he gets
balanced nutrition and reduces fatty foods, his LDL level will
decrease.
Fourth, he is too busy six and sometimes seven days a week with his
works. His feeling of lots of pressure at work is also not good for
health. Most recently it's hard to relax even after work. He should
have more time for himself and have a fun. He should find something
fun, and enjoy his life. He is thinking of only his work now. He
should play as he want, for example playing sports, traveling or
having hobby. If he has a lot of time for himself, his pressure will
decrease.
Furthermore, he exercises for only about a half an hour once a week,
and yet he feels this is enough to keep him from becoming fat. He
needs to exercise more. He can reduce his LDL level by exercising.
Even if he has no time exercise, he can do exercise, for example using
stairs and walking when he is commuting to work.
He thinks that he is "health-conscious". But his knowledge for health
isn't complete. He has a lot of misunderstanding. What he should do
in the future is to continue consulting doctor about his health. And he
should correct his misunderstanding.
