First, Mr. and Mrs. Mine have a problem in the foods they like. They like foods such as hamburger, fried chicken, pizza (Mr.M), cheese, eggs, butter, margarine, cake, cookies, ice cream (Mrs.M). These foods are high in fat and raise the amount of cholesterol in their blood. Next, Mr. and Mrs. M skip breakfast often. This contributes to an irregular pattern. This might be a cause for their stress and Mrs. M's being overweight.
Mr. M has high blood pressure and angina chest pain. These diseases are often lined to lower HDL levels which is the case with Mr. M. To matters worse, he smokes. This is a high risk for not only high blood pressure and angina, but also cancer. So he should stop smoking soon. He has also problems in his lifestyle and the foods he eats. Often he works late at night and skips breakfast. This increases his stress. Too much stress influences many diseases, such as heart disease. He should take it easy and exercise gradually for getting rid of stress and increasing his HDL level. Needless to say, he must also change his eating habits. Many of his daily foods are high in fat. These increase LDL levels and decrease HDL levels in his blood. So he should intake as many vegetables and fruits as possible while decreasing fatty foods, because vegetables and fruits contain many vitamins (A, B-2, C and so on). Vitamins perform many roles for our body. For example, vitamins help metabolism and the formation of antibodies. If he can accept this advice, he will become healthier.
Mrs. M is overweight and has a family history of cancer. Both overweight and family history of cancer are risk factors for cancer. Though she must be more aware of her diet, her daily foods are also high in fat. Like Mr. M, she should eat as many vegetables and fruits as possible while limiting unhealthy foods. And she should eat foods containing soybeans, such as miso soup and nattou, since high soybean intake has a greater effect on keeping breast cancer rates low. Though she skips breakfast often, this might be another cause for her being overweight. So she should wake up early and make breakfast everyday. And she should exercise every day, because regular exercise reduces LDL levels. If she can follow this advice, she will be able to stick to a healthy diet and reduce her risk factor for cancer.
At first Mr. and Mrs. M should change their lifestyle. Every day they should wake up an hour early and eat breakfast. Every day they (and especially Mrs. M) should do moderate exercise gradually. Next they need to eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods (vegetables, fruits, soybeans and so on) and enjoy their food. If they can cooperate with one another to practice the above, they can spend a healthy and comfortable life together. And it is important for them to practice these changes every day.
