Manabu Okamura writes:
There are similarities between Mr. Mine and Mrs. Mine. First they don't eat breakfast or if there's time, they'll fly some food left over from the day before. As time goes on, the unsaturated fatty acid becomes saturated fatty acid. Secondly, they also eat much meat. Especially they intake too much animal fat. So they keep their LDL levels high. They hardly take vegetables, and this means vitamins and fibers are in short supply in their meals. In addition, they hardly exercise.
Mr. Mine has some subjective symptoms, for instance angina chest pains. To make matters worse, he is a heavy smoker. This means the possibility of his developing heart disease is high. Mr. Mine has a low level of HDL as well. Mr. Mine has high blood pressure. To become healthy, he must do three things. First he must eat breakfast. Breakfast supplies energy for the whole day. Secondly, he must stop smoking. There is a deep relation between smoking and heart disease. Thirdly, he must begin exercise such as aerobics. Aerobics will make the HDL level high and the LDL level low. The high level LDL causes disease of the arteries. On the other hand, HDL reduces LDL. Fourthly, Mr. Mine must change the pattern of eating fast food late at night. He had better eat traditional Japanese food which contains cooked vegetables and fishes instead of meat. Because the fast food has much calories, much fats from animal, much cholesterol and few vitamins or little calcium. And cholesterol causes disease of the arteries.
Mrs. Mine has some problems too. First of these is her meals. Mrs. Mine likes sweet deserts. She eats a rice bowl for lunch. She eats snacks, sandwiches and fast food which is picked up by his husband. Actually, she eats 3 meals a day. And she is overweight. She eats too much animal fat and her meals lack vitamins, calcium and fiber. Most of the improvements she must make are the same as for Mr. Mine. But Mrs. Mine must stop or reduce intake of sweet deserts and snacks if she wants to reduce her weight. And she had better change her lunch from a simple rice bowl to a more typical Japanese set. And, it can be said that like Mr. Mine, Mrs Mine needs low fat milk or yogurt meals to be added to intake more calcium. Secondly, because of her family history of cancer, she had better eat more bean protein. It is said that the beÇİn protein reduces the rate of cancer. Needless to say, she had better begin exercise like aerobics. Aerobics will lower the LDL level.
To summarize, they must change their meals and lifestyle. With regard to their meals, they must intake vitamins, calcium and fibers and reduce animal fats and cholesterol and reduce gradually the total amount of their meals. But it is difficult to estimate how many calories various foods have or what kind of nutrition foods have. So they had better use a calorie book or the food pyramid guide until they become better able to eat correct meals naturally. They should change their lifestyle as well. Especially, they had better begin exercise. If they don't have enough time, they can walk, using stairs. And to effect all these changes, their maintaining their patience is more important than anything else.
