Keiko Nakano writes:
Mr and Mrs Mine have many problems and bad habits with regard to their dietary life. The big problem is that they are not careful about what they eat. Our body is supported by what we eat. Whether we can keep our health depends on what we eat everyday. Their dietary life is very irregular. For example, they usually skip breakfast and when Mr. Mine comes home late at night, they share fast food that Mr. Mine picks up on his way from the office -- pizza, yakitori or Chinese noodles with eggs, pork and chicken. Irregular dietary life causes an autonomic nerve that causes the body's functions to be in disorder. In addition, if we eat late at night, what we eat tends to accumulate as fat in our body. So, when Mr. Mine comes home late at night, they must not eat fast food that is fatty food, and they ought to eat lightly between meals and have a midnight meal, such as boiled food, gruel, Japanese noodle.
Mr. Mine had high blood pressure and occasionally experiences angina chest pains though he is in late twenties. I think that the lack of exercise and his habit of smoking cause his condition. So he must do exercise and stop smoking. But he works hard and has no time to do exercise. I suggest that he walk to the office and not use vehicles. He has low levels of HDL but his LDL levels is high. LDL carries cholesterol from tissues to the liver. Excess cholesterol and unsaturated fat collects in the lining of blood vessels. Blood vessels may become clogged, reducing the blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart muscle. In brief, low levels of HDL and high levels of LDL cause the increase of cholesterol that affects hardening of the arteries. So he has to abstain from eating foods that contain much cholesterol.
Mrs. Mine is more concerned about her appearance than her health, but she doesn't do regular exercise. If she wants to keep a good appearance, she must eat a well-balanced diet and do exercise regularly. And she has to stop eating a sweet dessert, cake, cookies or ice cream and snack food. She has several aunts and her mother who have developed complications with various cancers, including cancer of the breast. We know that various cancers are linked to hereditary factors. So, she must be more careful about her health.
Mr and Mrs Mine are short of fiber-ingredients, vitamins and minerals. Fiber-ingredients decrease the incidence of cancer of the colon, cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus. The lack of vitamins affects various diseases. For example, if we are short of vitamin B1, we can develop beriberi. The lack of vitamin A causes defective night vision and xerophthalmia. Fiber-ingredients, vitamins and minerals are included in vegetables, fruits, seaweeds and mushrooms. So they have to take these foods everyday.
