Mr and Mrs Mine are working hard. But they are not very careful about what they eat. They usually skip breakfast. If they have enough time, they'll eat some fried foods, for example, at lunch Mrs M usually eats a bowl of rice with some meat and a sweet dessert, cake, cookies or ice cream. Mr M's lunch is usually a hamburger or fried chicken or fried fish. And Mr M works late, Mrs M eats a combination of snack food and sandwiches. When both Mr and Mrs M share fast food it's food like pizza, yakitori or Chinese noodles. All of these foods have too much fat and cholesterol. This point is a big problem for Mr and Mrs M.
In addition, Mr M has high blood pressure and occasionally experiences angina chest pains. And he is a heavy smoker, as well. Mr M has low levels of HDL but his LDL level is 170.The best LDL level is less than 130. Over 160 is dangerous. This means he is at risk for heart disease. And smoking, high blood pressure and experience of angina will also put him at risk. So if he does not improve his lifestyle, he may well suffer from heart disease, especially coronary artery problems.
Mrs M, on the other hand, has both high HDL and LDL levels; her LDL is 165. And she is 10 kilos overweight, since she eats only two meals a day. But even if she continues with her dietary pattern and her lack of exercise, she does not think she will gain more weight. And her family has developed complications with various cancers. Women who eat diets rich in animal foods such as Mrs M reach menarche earlier, thereby producing more estrogen over their lifetimes and developing breast cancer at a significantly higher rate.
I think Mr and Mrs M must change their usual lifestyle, especially their meals. First, they should have traditional Japanese foods -- vegetables, fruits, beans, fish and so on -- which have rich dietary fiber and vitamins. These foods help to reduce cholesterol and raise the function of the inner organs. Second, they must limit their intake of fat and sugar. They have foods that are high in calories, so their LDL level goes up. To limit the meals Mr and Mrs M have usually had, they will want their LDL level to drop to 130, and as a consequence they can avoid the risk of disease. Third, I'd like them to exercise.F or example, they should walk 20 minutes a day, or take up swimming and so on. These exercises will burn fat and raise the functions of the inner organs, as well as reduce their risk of several middle aged diseases. Finally, the most important thing is for Mr and Mrs M to continue in their new lifestyle. If Mr and Mrs M stay aware of their dangerous life and cope with their bad habits, they will become healthier over time.
