Katsuharu Kameta writes:
Mr and Mrs Mine both usually skip breakfast. They might think that this is not so important for them, but breakfast is the source to work during the daytime, so skipping breakfast prevents them from working most effectively. And eating fried food at breakfast is equally bad, because even after a few hours after they wake up, the digestive organs do not work actively, so oily foods are not absorbed well. I would advise them first they have to try to share time to eat breakfast. Then, they should not eat fried food but eat non fried food such as miso soup and boiled rice for Japanese-style breakfast, or bread, cereal, pasta,1 slice of bread, 1 ounce of cereal,1/2 cup of cooked cereal. It's much better to eat these foods with fruits like apples, bananas, oranges or fruit juice, because these include a lot of vitamins. Moreover, when they eat fried food they should eat this food soon after it's prepared, because oil is oxygenized easily in the air. This is very bad for health.
For Mr. Mine, he has high blood pressure. So he had better not intake so much oily food, like hamburger or fried chicken or fried fish. He has experienced angina chest pains occasionally. I can't decide for certain what this is caused by. But I think there is some possibility of heart disease. And from the data, Mr M has low levels of HDL but his LDL level is 170. An HDL cholesterol level of less than 35 puts you at higher risk for heart disease, while an HDL level of 60 or above reduces your risk. An LDL cholesterol level of less than 130 is best. An LDL level of 160 or higher means you have an increased risk for heart disease. So he must try to increase his HDL level higher and on the other hand decrease his HDL level lower. I'll advise him that he has to get more opportunity to do regular exercise, for example, going to his office by foot, or take some time, at least thirty minutes ,for running, at least three times in a week. And he should decrease smoking, as well, because smoking would be a great risk of heart disease. But Its hard to do this as a practical matter. To solve these problems fundamentally he should decrease his work or take a time off from work more frequently.
Mrs Mine, on the other hand, has both high HDL and LDL levels; her LDL is 165. She may look healthy. But she is more concerned about her appearance than her health. And she cannot understand why she is 10 kilos overweight, since she eats only two meals a day. She may think that if she decreases the number of meals per day she would reduce her weight. The point is the opposite. If she were to eat a few times per day, her body would want nutrition more and the absorption of food in her digestive organ would rise in efficiency. So she should divide her meal times into three or four in a day and decrease the amount of food at each time. About nutrition, she should not eat many snack foods and sandwiches for a dinner, and she should reduce cheese or eggs and butter or margarine on her bread. These foods are richÅ@in cholesterol. She had better not eat them so often. And she needs to do more exercise. If this is difficult to do, she should exercise with her husband. This may help her. I think the most dangerous thing is her family history. Several aunts and her mother have developed complications with various cancers, including cancer of the breast. So she might have some genetic risks. Thus, she has to take care of her health more carefully than other people.
I want to say that Mr and Mrs M should pay more attention to what they eat. They should eat more fruits, vegetables to get vitamins. Vitamins prevent their risk of heart disease also breast cancer, etc. And they must avoid cholesterol-rich foods in order to reduce their risk of diseases caused by cholesterol. They ought not to eat dinner alone. They need to take time to eat dinner together and check their foods for each other.
Here's a one of the most important points. Foods are not good or bad. Select foods based on their total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Mrs. And M should not feel guilty if they love foods such as hamburgers or fried chicken or cheese or eggs. They can eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health. Moreover, they should do more exercise regularly, at least 30 minuets per day, 3 times per week. If these points are followed, they can live longer and healthier lives.
