Kaori Inoue writes:
Mr and Mrs Mine share a common life style. They work hard, neither Mr and Mrs Mine very careful about what they eat. They usually skip breakfast or if there is time, they will fry some food left over from the day before. And when Mr M comes home late at night, both Mr and Mrs M share fast food that Mr M picks up on his way from the office -- pizza, yakitori, or Chinese noodles with eggs pork and chicken.
There are some problems in Mr M' s lifestyle and habits. Mr M's lunch is usually a hamburger or fried chicken or fried fish. He has high blood pressure and occasionally experiences angina chest pains. He has no opportunity to do regular exercise. Moreover he is a heavy smoker. He has low levels of HDL but his LDL level is 170. He should improve his lifestyle. He should eat healthy food and get exercise to help lower his LDL level. He ought to cut down on the amount of fried foods and he should limit his intake of saturated fats. Moreover he had better quit smoking, because quitting smoking helps to raise his HDL cholesterol level.
Mrs M has some problems, too. At lunch, she eats a bowl of rice with meat and a sweet dessert, cake or ice cream. And her dinner is a combination of snack food and sandwiches. She especially likes cheeses or eggs and butter or margarine on her bread. She is 10 kilos over weight. She has both high HDL and LDL levels. Her LDL is 165. She should reduce her LDL levels. So, she had better take fiber rich foods, because fiber helps reduce LDL cholesterol levels in the blood and can also help her to lose weight. And to keep her weight down, she can participate in routine physical exercise and control her calorie intake.
Mr and Mrs Mine's lifestyle of eating is so bad that if they don't change it, they will suffer from some disease in the future, for example, Mr M has some risk factors for coronary heat disease. On the other hand, Mrs M has some risk factors for cancer, especially breast cancer, because this disease is said to be associated with heredity. So, they both should improve their lifestyle of eating. First, they must take three meals regularly at proper times. Second, they should carefully select foods they eat. A trans fatty acid-rich diet is the cause behind the raise in cancer risks. They should eat moderate foods that contain polyunsaturated fat and they should eat vegetables and fruits. These foods contain vitamins and they have an affect in preventing cancer. Third, they should get more exercise and control their cholesterol level. Finally, Mr M must quit smoking, because smoking is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. If they want to have a happy, healthy life,t hey must keep in mind these things.
