Toshiki Hirakawa writes:
Both Mr and Mrs Mine work hard and do not pay much attention to their diet. They usually skip breakfast. Moreover, both lack regular exercise. At lunch they eat simple meats or fast food. When Mr M comes home late at night, both Mr and Mrs M share fast food, for example, pizza, yakitori or Chinese noodles with eggs, pork and chicken.
Mr M has some immediate problems. First, Mr M's lunch is usually a hamburger or fried chicken or fried fish.He takes excess fat. So he had better reduce intake of fat and increase intake of vitamins. Then he must take vegetables and milk products and so on. Second, Mr M has low levels of HDL but his LDL level is 170. An LDL cholesterol level of less than 130 is best. An LDL level of 160 or higher means he has an increased risk for heart disease. An HDL cholesterol level of less than 35 puts you at higher risk for heart disease. So he must increase HDL levels and reduce LDL levels. To solve this, he can raise his HDL cholesterol level by exercising and quitting smoking. Then eating healthy foods usually lowers cholesterol levels, for example, eating more fruits and vegetables and more broiled or grilled fish and skinless chicken and less fried meats. Furthermore, dietary fiber may help lower his cholesterol. It may also help prevent heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer. He might try the following ideas to increase the fiber in his diet.
Mrs. M has some problems too. Mrs.M especially likes cheese or eggs and butter or margarine and a sweet dessert, cake, cookies or ice cream. Egg yolks, and whole milk products such as butter, cheese, yogurt and ice cream include high cholesterol or saturated fat. Saturated fat raises her blood cholesterol level more than anything else. Eggs include vitamin A (Beta Carotene), vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin) and vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine). And whole grains include vitamin B-1. But she don't take vitamin D. So she must take milk, liver oil, fish oil that include vitamin D and sunlight. Her becoming overweight and the fact that her aunts and her mother have developed complications with various cancers, including cancer of the breast, may be risk factors for breast cancer, as well. So she must decrease intake of fat and she needs more exercise. Mrs M has both high HDL and LDL levels; her LDL is 165. An LDL cholesterol level of less than 130 is best. An LDL level of 160 or higher means she have an increased risk for heart disease. So eating healthy food can help lower your LDL cholesterol level, and she must raise her HDL cholesterol level by exercising, and losing weight.
Mr M has high blood pressure and occasionally experiences angina chest pains. Then Mrs. M's several aunts and her mother have developed
complications with various cancers, including cancer of the breast. They both are at high risk. So they need moderate exercise and healthy food.
